Where to find the best cheesecake in New York City and they offer VEGAN options!

On one of my many trips to the USA, I visited one of my favourite cities again, New York. While I was there, I went on a hunt to find the best cheesecake in NYC and wow, it did not disappoint.

“It seems like pizza, hot dogs, and bagels get all the love when talking about iconic New York food. But let’s not forget the humble cheesecake. It was invented long ago by the Greeks, modified by the Romans, and eventually came into its own here in New York. The Italians claim pizza, the Germans get hot dogs, the Jews have the bagels—but the cheesecake belongs to all New Yorkers.” – Gothamist

I’m going to start this off by saying, I’m not a massive fan of cheesecake. I’m going to be honest, I’ve never really liked it until this one trip to New York.

2023 UPDATE: VEGAN

Since writing this post and visiting Eileen’s Special Cheesecake in 2018, I’ve decided to go vegan! Therefore it’s only right for me to update this blog post for fellow vegans out there.

As stated on their website, Eileen’s Special Cheesecake can make vegan cakes by special request using a soy and tofu base. This is EXCELLENT news for you all vegans out there who don’t have to miss out on the best NYC cheesecake.

To order the best VEGAN cheesecake in NYC call the store on (212)966-5585 at least 48 hours in advance.

Eileen’s Special Cheesecake

So while I was in New York, I visited Eileen’s Special Cheesecake and I will recommend it to everyone! Even if you don’t like cheesecake, Eileen’s will convince you otherwise.

Eileen’s Special Cheesecake is located in Cleveland Place, NY, which is a pretty hidden spot, to be honest. Compared to the likes of 38th St and Times Square it feels like a residential area. The bakery is also close to Little Italy which really helped the business blossom. Eileen’s warm personality made her an instant hit within the neighbourhood and I can confirm that Eileen is one of the loveliest people I have ever met.

So without a doubt, my award for the best cheesecake in NYC has to go to Eileen’s Special Cheesecake.

Eileen’s Special Cheesecake has over 30 different flavours of Cheesecake on the menu meaning there is something to suit everyone’s taste! Eileen sells individual cheesecakes at $4.50 each, you can also buy these cheesecakes in boxes of 6 and 12 and within these boxes you can mix and match the flavours. My favourite has to be the raspberry cheesecake!

Eileen also sells whole cheesecakes available in 6″, half 10″ and 10″ cheesecakes. To any American’s out there, you’re in luck! Eileen ships cheesecake anywhere in the US which I am insanely jealous about! So if any kind Americans want to ship one over to the UK, (along with some Goldfish crackers), that would be much appreciated!

Unfortunately, as delicious as the slices of cheesecake look. Eileen doesn’t sell the individual slices like this. It is simply the individual cheesecakes or the whole cheesecakes.

If you want to try Eileen’s cheesecake for yourself, you can find the bakery at 17 Cleveland Place, New York, NY, 10012. The bakery is open Mon – Fri, 9AM – 9PM and Sat – Sun, 10AM – 7 PM. I truly do hope that you try Eileen’s cheesecake, it’s a must for any cheesecake lover! In my opinion, it is the best cheesecake in NYC. Eileen and the team makes everyone feel welcome and this place does not dissapoint.
